I'm starting a new weekly series here at SingleGuyMoney called "Thursday Talkback". Basically, it will work like this. I will ask a random question every Thursday and I would like to get your thoughts. If could be personal finance related or it could be some random question. I'd like it if you'd participate and leave a comment with your thoughts on the question of the day. I figure this is a way to participate with the readers instead of just the same old personal finance post.
Today's Question is:
Have you received your economic stimulus payment? What do you plan to do with it when you get it?

Hi Single Guy.
I hope it arrives soon. I've been planning to buy a couple battered junior mining stocks with it. I figure I might as well take some risk with the free money... well sort of free money.
Nope, I should get it by the end of next week. I personally plan to use Kroger to get 10% extra from it. After that it will go into my savings account.
Didn't get it yet. I hope to buy a laptop with it.
We haven't gotten ours yet. I believe we should have it by next Friday. My hubby and I toyed with the idea of buying a motorcycle with the money. The gas is just getting so darn expensive, but ultimately we will use the money to pay off some of our credit card debt instead.
I haven't received mine yet but when I do I'll be making an extra truck payment with it and then start my emergency fund with the rest.
Grocery card with some, ING high yeild savings account with the rest... I'm kind of waiting to see if more merchants will have some kind of incentive (or will try to one up each other). Here's hoping!
No stimulus check yet - ss # is 16 so I thought we'd be one of the first. Plan to use it for moving expenses (job transfer) - gas, storage, hotels, food, etc. Any remainder will go to fixing up new house.
I have not received mine yet. My SSN is 00, where's my money! I know people who got theirs on Sunday! Whose banks deal with transactions on a Sunday. I plan on paying off some debts, and getting a couple of bills caught up.
Haven't got mine by since I'm #89 I figured I'd get mine on Friday - I hope.
I'm looking forward to having it so I can officially pay for my new LCD TV by replacing the funds in my money market.
I have not received mine yet, but I do plan to use all of it to pay off debt. That will help me to pay off my largest balance/highest rate card in the next couple of months.
We haven't received our stimulus package, as of yet. But I plan to use it to put gutters on the house and replace a couple of windows.
I haven't got mine yet - I think it will come next week, with the new schedule.
I was originally just going to put it into savings, but I've decided to put it into savings for a motorcycle instead! I should have enough to buy with cash next month :D I have wanted one FOREVER and now that I'm (newly) debt-free!!! it's time to save up and get one. I'm thinking used, probably around $2500 for my first bike, and another $500-$1000 for gear. Hooray!
Not yet...ours should come by May 9th. We plan on using it for several things...debt reduction, more savings, and a little fun too.
Ours has arrived - very early this Fri. morn.
No such thing here... inflation is out of control here, we've had 17 straight interest rate rises or something ridiculous! We need people to stop spending money. :)
But if I did have one I'd either spend it on a holiday with my partner or on a nice dinner out with him or with friends. (I don't have any debt).
Hmmm, I just realised it was $3000 (I think?). Well that's several nice dinners! New answer: go on a holiday and go on a nice dinner and also go out to dinner with my mates. We live on a pretty tight budget so it's nice every once in awhile to breathe easy and not worry that if you're spending x amount of $ then you've screwed your budget for the rest of the month.
I have not received it yet, but i will be spending it on a mix of things. Credit cards mainly because i kinds already spent the money.
After filing my 2007 taxes, I used the 'calculator' on the IRS.gov site to calculate my incentive payment. Unless I made a mistake of some sort, it appears that I do not qualify to receive the incentive. Overall, it's not a bad problem to have, and I feel very thankful and blessed to receive the apparently-not-as-modest-as-I-thought income that I earn.
