I sincerely appreciate everyone taking the time to visit and read my blog. I enjoy sharing my financial story and I hope you enjoy reading.

The Gift:
I will be giving away a free $100 Target Giftcard. I am funding this out of my own pocket and not supplied by Target. I know the economy sucks right now so to thank you for visiting my blog, I want to make that next Target purchase a little bit easier. I know I said in the last giveaway I was going to give away a book but I think this is more fun and can be put to better use!!

The Rules:
  • One entry per person, duplicate entries will be disqualified. - Let's make this fair.
  • Contest applies to U.S. residents only.
  • I have the final say on the contest.
  • I will use a random online number generator to pick the winner.
  • You will have your choice of a Wal-Mart and/or Target giftcard.
  • Be sure you leave your email address so I can contact you if you win.

How to Enter:

  • The contest starts Sunday January 11, 2009 and will end on Saturday January 31, 2009 @ 11:59pm. I will announce the winner in a post on Sunday February 1, 2009.
  • All you need to do to enter is leave a comment on this post. I want to know - if you win, what do you plan to buy with the gift card. Your answer will not affect your chance to win.
  • If you have a blog or website, mention the giveaway for an additional chance to win. You can also Stumble, Tip, etc for an additional chance to win.
  • I would also hope that you will subscribe to SingleGuyMoney. This is not a requirement of the contest but it would be greatly appreciated. If you are new, be sure to take a look around the site.

If I won the gift card, I would likely choose the walmart gift card option, and i would use it to supplement our grocery budget.

Not very exciting, but certainly useful!

Debt free by May... my wishes are with you. I hope to be completely debt free - mortgage included - by the end of the year. I've been able to pay down an extra $15,000 last year (making $45,000) and have 14 more months on my mortgage.
If I were to win the gift card, I would get the best ingredients I could at target super center to cook my girlfriend a feast. :)

Thanks for the posts... I always seen to learn something from others.

If I win the giftcard I'll probably give it to my cousin who is a new mom. I don't really need it myself, but I would love to surprise her with it, especially since Target is her favorite store.

  4. Matthyahuw // January 11, 2009 at 12:09 PM

if we'd won, we'd probably buy diapers & baby supplies for our soon-to-be daughter. We've went though about six miscarriages & we're very blessed to have her finally come in another month.

  5. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 12:14 PM

How awesome! If I were to be lucky enough to win I would get a vacuum. Sometimes being an adult really bites!

If I won, I would stimulate the economy. I am on the hunt to buy a new tv.

  7. Joe // January 11, 2009 at 12:24 PM

I'd use it on various sundries (health products, socks, etc). Not exciting, but the unexciting stuff still costs money!

  8. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 12:27 PM

I would buy cat food & litter at Wal-Mart. We have 23 cats & kittens, mostly rescues, and the costs really add up.

    Chris

  9. Jess // January 11, 2009 at 12:29 PM

I'd get the Target gift card, as I could use the money to buy groceries. Simple, but necessary.

    jessica.tupper(at)gmail.com

  10. Amelia // January 11, 2009 at 12:30 PM

I'd put the giftcard towards getting a Wii/Wii Fit so I can work out more at home, especially when it's cold outside and I can't go run.

  11. SingleGuyMoney // January 11, 2009 at 12:33 PM

@Matthyahuw: Congratulations on the new baby!

  12. Eponine // January 11, 2009 at 12:35 PM

I buy most of my household supplies at Target, so some of it would be used for that, some to buy stuff for my classroom, then I'd get something fun like a book or CD.

  13. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 12:54 PM

Henry. I would use the target card to buy some better clothes for work.Going into million dollar homes in jean shorts and sneakers makes me feel ashamed.

  14. xzolian // January 11, 2009 at 1:01 PM

I would buy some much needed kitchen supplies.

  15. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 1:06 PM

If I won, I'd choose Target and use it for groceries/household things.

I came across your blog a couple weeks ago, and I enjoy reading your posts. :)

  16. Shari Thomas // January 11, 2009 at 1:12 PM

Single Guy... your blog is one of my daily "must reads" as I run through the Adgitize list.

If I won, I'd like the Walmart card and would use it towards a new computer.

In our house, two of us work full time on two of the three 'puters, and the third one is shared by two others.

All of the 'puters are at least 5 years old and we're getting to that point where upgrading isn't yielding much (motherboards are limited).

Keep up the good work, dude!

We're with you on the "get out of debt" mode. This year, we're working to save at least $6K while we continue to pay down "old CC debt". In three months, the last (of 3) vehicles is paid off, too.

  17. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 1:33 PM

If I win I will choose Walmart. They have about anything I want and right now it would go towards a new Kodak EasyShare camera. I love mine but the kids borrowed and broke it, of course! LOL Thanks for the chance!

I'm following you on Twitter and that is how I found out about your giveaway.

    Congrats on reaching 150,000 visitors!

If I won, I'd do the same thing as Kristy. I'd ask for the Wal-Mart gift certificate and do some grocery shopping.

  23. Carolyn G // January 11, 2009 at 1:57 PM

THanks for the giveaway. I would opt for the Walmart card since the nearest Target is over 2 hours from my house and Walmart is only 5 minutes. My vacuum died last month so I would definately consider buying a new one with the card. THanks for the giveaway!

  24. George // January 11, 2009 at 1:58 PM

I would use the gift card for essentials for my new home. I realized quickly that little purchases here and there add up quickly to furnish a home, and we're doing it frugally!

  25. Cindy // January 11, 2009 at 2:10 PM

Hi,,If I would win, would go with a Walmart card. Would use it for things on the grocery list under: "would be nice, but not necessary" items. Yours is one of the first to be read during my Adgitize morning routine. Keep it up.

  26. Mike Kowalski // January 11, 2009 at 2:11 PM

I would use it to purchase groceries. As others have said, not exciting but necessary

  27. Jim McDannald // January 11, 2009 at 2:19 PM

Thanks for the contest. The card will go on eBay and be put toward my student loan debt.

  28. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 2:22 PM

If I won, I would use it to buy some 'nicer' groceries. I'm a poor college student and I am tired of Ramen noodles and canned fruit! I'll splurge on the nice 14 dollar bags of assembled frozen dinners. Walmart would be more convenient, but I'd take a Target.

    dkwasny@vt.edu

  29. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 2:24 PM

Hey Single Guy, I came over from Single Ma.

If I won the giftcard, I would use it for friend's baby gifts at Target as 3 of them are due in March, April, and May.

  30. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 2:28 PM

If I won I'd take my kids and let them get something as a treat.

  31. Unknown // January 11, 2009 at 2:28 PM

I'd choose the Target giftcard and I'd buy some organizing supplies for my New Year's Resolution-getting organized. I need some storage bins, file folders, labels, and a nice drawer organizer. I'm hoping there's enough left over to buy myself a good book to read when I'm all done organizing.

I would probably choose Wal-Mart, since Sam's Club is close to us. Buying there is usually the best deal for my healthy cereal. And we get a few other staples there.

The card would definitely help in our goal to pay off at least another $4,000 of our debt by May. (We got under $10,000 right before the New Year, which means we eliminated over $4,000 in 6 months while making only $2900/month.) We're cutting corners where we can, but free groceries are always a huge help!

  34. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 3:03 PM

I would choose the Walmart Gift Card which I would put toward the purchase of a camcorder, so we can have a video recordings of special occasions.

I will be linking to your post from my roundup this afternoon or tomorrow morning (whenever I finish it).

Thanks for the opportunity and happy new year!

There is so many things I could use this for but Since my Vacuum broke a few weeks ago and sweeping rugs just doesn't work well and is a lot of work I think this would be what I spent the money on. Thanks for Sharing~! :) I subscribed and look forward to your emails.

I'd probably buy some kitchen supplies to continue my efforts to cook at home the majority of the time. If I couldn't find any kitchen cookware, baking pans, measuring cups, etc, then I'd probably use it for any necessary bthroom items. It'd save my household budget, and let me pay more towards debt.

Nice blog by the way, I've been been reading it for about 2 months!

  43. Viclen1954 // January 11, 2009 at 4:32 PM

I would select the Target card and hoard it until just after Christmas '09 and parley it into a $200+ card.

  44. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 4:41 PM

If I were to win I would like to use it to buy a new tire that I just noticed has a slow leak in it. Don't know if I can get just one tire but there is a Wal Mart that services vehicles across the border.

  45. Gypsie // January 11, 2009 at 4:45 PM

    Thanks

I will buy Valentines Gifts for my Girlfriend

  51. silverhartgirl // January 11, 2009 at 6:36 PM

I would want the walmart and get the family plus me all shoes

  52. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 6:45 PM

Let's see... a hundred dollars at Target or Walmart would buy approximately a six month supply of socks for my son, because I don't know what he's doing with them but he goes through them like nobody's business!

    I Stumbled you too.

  53. Little Raven // January 11, 2009 at 6:49 PM

I would choose the Wal-Mart option. I would use it for groceries, cat food/litter, and a few other needed household items.

  54. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 8:38 PM

I would like to pay off a big screen TV I have been paying for on my Target giftcard for 6 months. Drives me freakin nuts.

  55. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 8:59 PM

Congratulations on the 150k mark. That's awesome.

If I won, I'd buy some things we need for the new house: insulated plug covers, light bulbs, a light fixture, etc.

Seems the more we live here, the more little things we find.

  56. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 8:59 PM

I would use the gift card for groceries and pet supplies. The $100 we save would be redirected towards eliminating the car loan.

  57. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 9:17 PM

Congrats on the traffic! A $100 gift card.. I would probably just use it for basic shopping... maybe a new computer case. There isn't anything else I really need right now.

  58. Madelaine // January 11, 2009 at 9:25 PM

Target gift card to be spent on both practical items (cat food and toiletries) and a splurge on a new set of dishes.

We would use the Target card for thrifty basics like shampoo and possible our tax software for this year.

  60. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 9:38 PM

If I won the Gift Card I would request that you use it to your second choice. You have rewarded me already with a great "Celebration Giveaway" in the event I choose to do one when reaching a milestone, thank you.

  61. Brooke S. Rochon // January 11, 2009 at 9:40 PM

I would be so grateful to receive this gift card. My husband is laid off, I just had a baby on 12.26.08 and we already have a 4.5 year old and my normally well paying job is now nada and I don't know when it will pick up. We have a total of just under $1200 a month coming in at the moment and that won't even cover our mortgage, not to mention the rest of the bills. We still have hope that my work will pick back up and I try to find the odd design job to help add to the income, but it's few and far between. This gift card would become the money that would buy diapers and formula for probably a whole month, maybe more, we would be so blessed. thank you for being so generous. Once my life gets back on track, I too will do a giveaway equatable to yours. :)

    bsrochon@yahoo.com

  62. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 9:43 PM

I would use the Target gift card to find a few supplements to my wardrobe. Panties, socks, stockings, that kind of thing. Maybe an inexpensive top or two, I've had mixed luck with them.

    Then perhaps another surge protector?

  63. Chev // January 11, 2009 at 9:55 PM

With a Target giftcard...I'd buy cleaning supplies, toiletries and new kitchen utensils. All things that I need...none of which is budgeted!!!

  64. KathleenKMM // January 11, 2009 at 9:57 PM

I'd buy nylons! I'm a female attorney who just started a new job and it's bad enough that I have to pay 2x what my male partner does for dry-cleaning, but having to wear nylons too? So unfair! I'd also stock up on the food sales to donate to the local food pantry.

  65. stalkermom // January 11, 2009 at 10:15 PM

With a $100 gc from Targe, I'd take advantage of all the weekly deals I see on the coupon sites!

  66. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 10:18 PM

I would spend it on every day items that we can't get at our local grocery store (toothpaste, dish washer detergent, etc.)

    Thanks for holding the contest!

  67. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 10:27 PM

Whew...what would I purchase? Household items I need as simple as cleaning supplies and groceries. Gotta get the necessities!

  68. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 10:30 PM

If we won the card, we would spend it on groceries (if walmart) and if target some groceries, the rest would be on clothes.

  69. RDS // January 11, 2009 at 11:07 PM

I would use the gift card to stock up on all the essentials (toilet paper, toothpaste, etc)! if there was any left over I would use it for groceries.

  70. Anonymous // January 11, 2009 at 11:48 PM

    Love your blog!

If I won the gift card I would choose the Target option and I would either buy basic clothes for the kids or stock up on toiletries...

    profesora10996@gmail.com

  71. m // January 12, 2009 at 12:21 AM

I would use the gift card to add things to my apartment. I moved in 6 months ago and went with the opinion of only buying things that I need, therefore, it still looks like I just moved in. :) I probably will get kitchen supplies and a very much needed vacuum.

  72. Anonymous // January 12, 2009 at 12:24 AM

I'll be completely splurging with the $100. Just buy a bunch of stuff for fun. Or maybe buy $100 worth of diapers.

  73. Mira // January 12, 2009 at 12:40 AM

I love contest! I would prefer to get the Target giftcard since it is closer to me. If I win I'd probably save it for my son's 3rd bday party in May. That would give me enough budget to buy the party needs.

  74. Anonymous // January 12, 2009 at 12:52 AM

I would use the Target gift card to update my wardrobe. It has been a while since I got any new clothes.

  76. Unknown // January 12, 2009 at 5:17 AM

As a new homeowner I would use the gift card to buy a few things I haven't yet gotten around to getting for the new place: more wastebaskets, additional cleaning supplies, etc.

  77. Plowlady // January 12, 2009 at 5:59 AM

hi, I would use the walmrt card--things have been tighter then tight here since hubs had lost his job, so we haven't been able to get his meds...I'd use it to pick up his meds, their refills and then any food items plus cleaning supplies and staples that I could..we are in need of them all!

    Awesome First Blog Giveaway!

I'd use the $100.00 to purchase household items (toilet paper, tissues, feminine hygiene products, etc ...) that I would normally purchase from the household/daily living expenses portion of my budget, then re-allocate the 100.00 to further pad my emergency fund. Thanks, for all you do, I'm learning so much!

If I won the giftcard to Target I would use it to buy my girls some Spring/Summer clothes. My hubby just got his hours cut at both of his jobs and we just don't have a lot of extra cash anymore. Our girls are going to need summer clothes so this would help us outfit them without us having to scrape together the cash from our sad little budget.

What I'd like to do is get some fun home accessories from Target - I saw some of their Spring stuff coming out before the holidays, and I loved the color combos. It would be cool to buy some guilt-free!

This of course would help towards keeping us on budget, something that is very important to my husband and me. I don't think our kids still fully understand the importance of keeping to budget, but we are trying to help them grasp the concept. In fact, my husband is making one of our teenage daughters maintain our check registry currently to teach her some lessons. ;)

If I won, I would choose the Target gift card and use it to buy groceries for the month. I am single and on a very tight budget trying to pay off debt from college, and I am getting so close to being done I can smell it, but it would be nice not to have to buy groceries for one month so I could throw my grocery money at the debt.

I plan to use this to purchase my toiletries for the year, leaving more money for debt reduction!

Gosh, I guess I'm going the practical route. I love SuperTarget here in IA, and I use them to price compare often with Groceries. It would definitely help with the budget these days. What a great contest!

I would use the gift card to buy baby things for my new baby.

I would use it for groceries, gas and prescriptions at Wal-mart.
